FAQ
Q. I see the services that you provide. Are there any other services
that you can offer?
A. We are more than happy to quote for jobs not specifically listed
in our menu of services. In fact, we are adding new expertise
all the time to keep pace with changing demands. If we can't help
you, we will tell you and try to recommend another service provider.
Feel free to contact us for advice on any matter.
Q. I understand that ASL is an Association Management Company. What
is an AMC?
A. ASL is one of a handful of professionally run AMCs in the UK.
We provide the office facilities and staff for organisations that
do not want, or cannot afford, a full time office of their own.
We work to standards and procedures promoted by the AMC Institute,
formerly the International Association of Association Management
Companies (IAAMC). Using an AMC for your trade association or
other "not-for-profit" group allows you to concentrate on the
aims of your organisation, not the nuts and bolts of running an
office.
Q. What is the cost for clients/potential clients to use ASL's
services?
A. We usually agree fees a year ahead - and tailor them to the
available budget. Because we operate a multi-client secretariat
it means that we can provide office facilities at a fraction of
the cost of a "stand alone" organisation. We effectively provide
a "full-time office at a part-time price". Staffing costs need
not be high, We can supply the time of experienced executives
and administrators at hourly rates that would embarrass the average
motor mechanic!
Q. If I'm starting a new group or changing the administration
of an existing one, how would I go about it?
A. There is no substitute for getting down on paper what it is
you want to achieve and how you envisage your new group working.
If you are seeking a new secretariat, then the more detail you
can supply the better. No self-respecting AMC can provide an accurate
quote without a clear steer on what they are expected to do.
